I Feel SO Blessed
I have felt so blessed this past week. There are many reasons that may seem small to many of you, but they have made the difference of my week.
We could talk text books. I am sure all of you have similar experiences of them being just too darn expensive. Steven and I bought our books and it cost about $600 and we still had some to buy. This is more than any other semester. Luckily, most books we found on bulletin board (a BYU-I student site to sell items). We were able to sell some of our old ones as well to make some more money. I couldn't find a cheaper way to get my SPED 360 book that cost $155. I kept checking in with bulletin board but nothing showed. I might have you know I have set a goal not to spend so much time with bargaining deals and that means fewer hip2save visits--which I had been successful. Last night I felt like I should go on there. I didn't know why. I thought it was my homework avoidance routine. What was I to find? A post about a website offering free textbook rentals this semester with just $8 shipping (including return shipping). Even more blessed, I found that my SPED 360 book was one of the titles being offered.
We were able to sell my Tiffany's card (thanks to the Besseys who sold it on ebay) not for the expected $170 but for $190! The card was worth $200. Indeed, we still had to pay ebay for their services so we didn't get the full $190 but still that's more than we expected.
Lastly (that I noticed this week; I'm sure my eyes are not yet open to all the many blessings I receive), I hate sewing. I shouldn't say I hate it. I get very frustrated while making the garment and oddly satisfied when it's finished. We are currently making a plaid shirt. We have to make sure to match everything plus use the previously learned knowledge about collar shirts. I was sick last week. When our teacher turned the time to us, I asked if I could leave. She granted it. I sort of regret it because I feel like I have been behind ever since. To add to my dismay, when she explained about which points to make sure match, my head was in a fog. I did what I remembered today. When she came by to check it off so I could cut, she was checking the matching points and named a few that I didn't remember. The thought, "Oh, rats. I'm going to have to do it over," came to my mind. She passed the sister point with no remark about off-matching. I had miraculously matched it up without realizing it. Knowing me and sewing, I know that was a blessing.
Steven was able to find jobS. Yes, I meant to capitalize the "S." This is a blessing as well, one that I thought of after this list. When his teacher presented the first job opportunity, he went back the next day and was hired and was offered yet another job. I love life.
I could list many other things as well, like having an awesome table in my textiles class. Having Kara, a fellow FCS friend, in two of my classes, as well as others like Camille and Kayleen. It is just so nice to see familiar faces in my classes. We had time to go to WINCO this past weekend. I am getting better. I feel WAY better. I have awesome influences around me and people who inspire me to be better. I have an amazing sewing teacher this semester who is willing to help out and is such a good example for aspiring teachers. I have a fun class, meal management, where we get to learn the coolest stuff. I get warm fuzzies reaffirming my decision to be in the program, family and consumer sciences education, that I picked a year ago (I could/should post a blog just on this--it's pretty cool). I have an amazing husband who is willing to help out with the "woman's work." I hope one day we can make this whole "mess" worth it in our new "mess." =P
I know that Heavenly Father loves us and watches us in our daily lives. The Holy Ghost guides us. Jesus Christ died for us and the atonement is there for us to use to strengthen ourselves during our daily battles. I know all these things are true, even when things aren't quite going my way.
I love you all!
P.S. Mr. Wonderful says hello to all. :)
