It seems as a journey through life requires one to become accustomed to learning acronym. ER, TV, AC, AKA, BLT, ET, GM, OJ, MST, PMS, and we even teach things like ROYGBIV to children. They surround us in life.
P.S. I tried making this short/pleasurable. Sorry, this is kind of like my journal. :)
What is AAFCS? The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Why is that the topic of today's post? Because it has been on my mind! You see, last semester I took a class called something like Connect Education and Employment. This class talked about organizations like extensions

and Professional Development. AAFCS was one that my teacher seemed VERY adamant about. Last year, she even talked about a conference June 2011. This organization made all the difference for her and she told stories about others who have benefited from such an organization. Plus, this is the same teacher who took us on a field trip to Boise, which I found very pleasurable and beneficial to my education.
Well, February came around. I received an email from this teacher about the opportunity to attend this conference with a group from school. I wanted to go, but once I saw it was almost a month's worth of rent + another payment for traveling expenses I got a little scared off. That is, until during meal management Heidi was talking to this teacher.
I'll cut to the chase, there was a "scholarship" to attend this conference. I sent it off the very next day and currently I sit and wait until April to see if I am getting it or not. I am already tied into going, so I paid the money either way. Is that considered gambling? =P
I am super excited even if I have to pay quite a bit of money. I find it will be worth it (and so much fun!).
This is where we will be staying (Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa):

And we even talked about doing some of these things:

Ok, so I am not that flexible but they have yoga and other exercises in the mornings.

Let's face it, if I'm going to be spending so much money to get there and such, I might as well experience it all the right way, right? lol

And they even have the most delectable food.

Hopefully not alcoholic...

Underneath this one it says "Locally Grown & Pressed Olive Oil"
This isn't even talking about how enlightening all the classes will be. I'm so excited!!! It's from June 23-25. Possibly with an excursion to some nearby sites on the 22nd.
